Relieve Dry Eye Symptoms with Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
The Marco Equinox Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive, pain and stress-free dry eye treatment for patients. LLLT uses specially designed LED lights to gently warm up the eyelids, causing the meibomian glands to unclog and release oils needed to keep eyes healthy, moisturized and comfortable. Such ocular applications would include Meibomian Gland Disfunction (MGD), Dry Eye, Blepharitis, Chalazion, and Stye. Some studies indicate skin applications such as wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, and scars.
How It Works
The LLLT mask utilizes medical grade LEDs for light modulation, a photobiomodulation technology that stimulates the production of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) by emitting a specific wavelength of light. It also significantly warms the eyelids to temperatures recommended for periorbital heat treatment. The increase in cellular action that triggers endogenous heat combined with the external thermal heating helps stimulate the normalization of the glands.
This technology has been used in medicine for over 10 years but only until recently did doctors discover its benefit for periocular inflammatory conditions.
Is It safe
The doctor will place a protective mask over your face which covers your forehead, entire eye area, and cheekbones through which the LLLT will be released. It usually takes approximately 15 minutes to complete the application while you sit comfortably in a reclining chair. You can promptly resume your usual activities following the treatment. There are no particular side effects or contraindations to Equinox Low Level Light Treatment.
